Dating from 1755 and located in the historic narrow streets near Winchester College. The distinctive curved glass entrance doors lead straight into the main bar area, which makes good use of old school desks as bar tables. The amount of memorabilia throughout the pub's 5 or 6 interconnected rooms defies the imagination! The rare, wall-mounted Victorian post box in the building opposite the front door attracts aficionados from around the nation! Food menu rated at 2 AA rosettes since 2013. Actively discourages use of mobile phones in bar. Dog friendly.

Historic Interest

Dates from 1755 and is Grade II listed; the entrance doors and fanlight above are notable features from 1830. Historic England UID: 1095400. One-time Eldridge Pope pub.
