Long established popular village pub, located at the centre of this historic village, opposite the church.
Two front entrances directly access the restaurant and a large, comfortable lounge / dining room. The latter comprises several linked rooms and secluded corners, and has retained low-beamed ceilings, wood panelling and an inglenook. Sadly, two Bass lanterns illuminating the front doors 'disappeared' during a 2014 refurbishment, but another one remains over an annexe entrance at the rear. There is a large landscaped patio garden to the rear, adjoining the car park.
Simple home-cooked food, with regularly changing menu, plus Sunday roasts.
Historic Interest
Former 17th-century coaching inn (parts of building date back to 1664) with some 19th-, 20th- and 21st-century additions. The old stables and brew-house still stand, now constituting the annexe to the rear.
