Historic and locally well-known pub located on the western end of town near to a major river estuary. This large and friendly family run pub has a large l-shaped lounge containing the main bar and a smaller bar/snug with a corner bar. A large range of meals are available all week, with Sunday lunch being served from 12-2:30 and the main menu on Sun eve. There is a General Knowledge quiz on Sunday evenings.
The pub is named after the Reverend James Buckley, an 18th Century local Methodist minister and Brewer. Who is now best known from the popular Brains beer named after him, which is sold in the pub.
