A large and relatively modern suburban pub in the much expanded village of Bayston Hill on the outskirts of Shrewsbury. The Beeches is the only pub in the newer part of the village, which now has a population greater than Church Stretton or Pontesbury.
Very much a community pub, there's a lively public bar and a comfortable rather more sedate lounge. The lounge has recently been refurbished since daily meals were re-introduced, resulting in most of the tables being set for diners; the food offering is from a bespoke home-cooked menu. Sadly the distinctive figures of the three wise monkeys which graced the lounge have been 'retired'.
The Beeches was an early entry in the Good Beer Guide, having a four year stint from the second edition in 1975. Details were sparse in those days, but this is what it said, "Built 10 years ago" and Banks' Mild and Bitter were served.
New managment July 2023.
This Pub serves no changing beers and 1 regular beer.
