Compulsory on a tour of Lichfield's vibrant real ale scene, this is the city’s longest-serving Guide entry, with a secured future now that the hosts own the freehold. The regular ales are joined by four guests, usually from smaller breweries. Various comfortable areas surround the central bar, and there is a large suntrap beer terrace to the rear and side. Sports screenings are popular. Freshly-made rolls and a pork pie/cheeseboard selection are always available. A 21-plus age policy applied.
