A former almshouse dating back to the 15th century close to the market square, Six Poor Folk was converted from a restaurant to a bar in 2018. It serves four real ales from a range of national and Yorkshire breweries, there are also six keg lines and a wide selection of cans and bottles. A step down from bar level is a mix of cafe type seating and a warming gas fire in the winter months. Deceptively larger inside than it appears from the outside, there are two further rooms upstairs, and an enclosed courtyard at the back provides pleasant outdoor space too. Food is available at most times, either formal meals or tapas, with roasts on Sundays. The pub hosts regular events, including a quiz on Wednesdays and a DJ playing soul and funk music on Fridays.
