A previous runner-up in our branch Pub Of The Year competition and winner of Cider Pub Of The Year, now "FREE of TIE". A comfortable pub with several seating areas. The larger front room has, a piano and a large inglenook fireplace, with a real log fire. There is also sports TV here. Another seating area (again with an open fire) leads through to the rear dining area, which has well-stocked bookshelves. Outside the rear of the pub is a delightful garden. The two guest ales in this Cask Marque pub are always varied and from some of the more interesting breweries local and around the country. Regular beer festivals are held during the year. Quiz night every Thursday at 9pm and Steak night is Wednesday. Buskers night is from 8.30pm 1st & 3rd Tuesday every month and on the last Tuesday of the month from 9pm is Ukulele Night. On Sundays there is music in the afternoon 4 to 6pm.
Historic Interest
Grade II Late C17 altered. Two storey, old tile roof, walls roughcast and colourwashed. Three Yorkshire sash windows with glazing bars on first floor. Two single C19 horizontal bar casements ground floor. Flank chimney to left hand and one offset on ridge. C19 gabled porch on cut brackets over entrance. Modern lean-to extensions to right and at rear.
