Located at the bottom of the A59 hill next to High Bridge, this pub underwent major refurbishment both inside and outside during the 2021 lockdown. Entering by the front door, you are met by a faux Victorian interior with bench seats, Britannia tables and stools in the room to the right and there are older style padded chairs and tables to the left. The right hand side has a nice carved and tiled fireplace, brass and china nic-nacs of all sorts abound, and the framed old postcards decorating both rooms are interesting. At the back of the pub is a large modern extension with tables and chairs laid out for dining, and bi-folding doors which open out on to the terrace. The pub benefits from a large south-facing outside area overlooking the river, with multiple eating/drinking terraces on a number of different levels. It can get very busy with families and walkers on hot weekends. There are two house beers, one from Daleside and one from Rooster's.
This pub uses Autovac.
NB. Significant mark up on half pints.
